Monday Feather Mystery 060120
A "Bird Watcher" reader writes:
Would you be able to assist in possibly identifying the attached picture of a feather?
I live on the border to northwest Morris County and Sussex County adjacent to Bowling Green Mountain and Mahlon Dickenson Reservation. Lots of raptors and owls.
My granddaughter (aged 2 12) found it and wanted me to show her which bird it came from. She loves birds.
I'm thinking some sort of hawk. What do you think?

Thanks Diane. It’s close between the sharp shinned, goshawk and coopers. There are two that are up in the pines and tall trees by me. They make a lot of noise calling back and forth and following each other. I’ll have to get a closer look and find out some of the calls that the they make so I can see which pair it is. I’ll also look up to see which is the most common up here. Jim.
