Monday Bonus Mystery

On the visit to High Mountain's Franklin Clove on Friday, my wife Patty and I also came across a flock of Dark-eyed Juncos.

We wondered if there's a collective noun for juncos.  The Internet offered a few answers, none definitive as far as I could tell.

Someone proposed "a junket of juncos." What do you think?

  • Yo Jim . . .With their white outer rectrices, and with a flock milling about, they look like square dancers with
flared skirts; and since the Latin for DEJU is Junco hyemalis, how about “Hyemalis Hoedown”?
    (Too big a stretch . . .???) . . . .CC
