Lorrimer Native Plant Sale This Weekend!

P1060149-1
John Workman writes:

Lorrimer Sanctuary's spring plant sale is this weekend (May 4
and 5) from 10AM to 4PM.   Funds raised will go
toward the Sanctuary’s backyard habitat projects.

Lorrimer,
as most of you know, has strong historic ties with Fyke Nature Association.  Few
conservation efforts are as important as teaching people, especially young
people, about the natural world.  And the Lorrimer staff members are
outstanding in this work.

So
consider picking up some plants there.   Lorrimer
will have monarda, phlox, aster, salvia, native trees and shrubs
– species that will attract birds and butterflies to your backyard
(which can help you endure these lulls in migration, while
simultaneously checking off your Mother’s
Day purchase — in advance).

Directions
to Lorrimer, as well as information on the Sanctuary's outstanding
programs, can be found on their website at:

http://www.njaudubon.org/SectionCenters/SectionLorrimer/Introduction.aspx

(Thanks, Lorrimer, and thanks, John!)

(Got the Bleeding Hearts picture above at Lorrimer several years ago, and they are still going strong…)
