Last Monday’s Mystery Answered

On Monday I asked:

Something has been digging a little tunnel across Parnell's Path in the Celery Farm for decades.

But what?

I got several great answers, all in the same family (I think):  Shrew, Mole,  and  Star-nosed Mole.

A website explaining how to tell Voles, Moles, and Star-nosed Moles apart is here. (Apparently shrews use tunnels dug by voles and moles…)

I recall Stiles Thomas telling me years ago that the tunnel was made by a Star-nosed Mole, and I have occasionally seen a dead one near there, so I believe that's the right answer.

A photo of a recently deceased Star-nosed mole at the Celery Farm is here.

Diane L. and Sally thought it was a mole, and Judy Collier went so far as to ID it as a Star-nosed Mole. Congrats to all.
