INJURED HAWK: Update

Celery Farm Marsh Warden Stiles Thomas reports that the red-shouldered hawk found injured yesterday and taken to the Raptor Trust is still alive.

The bird is a female, and she can stand up, which is a good sign. The bird has not been X-rayed, but most likely will once she has stabilized. A veterinarian is involved.

The bird is "with egg" — which complicates things.  Red-shouldered hawks when nesting are threatened species in New Jersey…

I will post more as I hear it.
