Honey bee woes
I wrote a Page One story for The Record today about all the problems facing honey bees here in New Jersey and nationwide. It has ramifications for all of us — they pollinate a third of our food supply. Feedback welcome.

This article reminds me of an article I read a few years ago (too bad I can’t find it now but maybe you can?) which showed that men living in rural america had a lower sperm count due to the exposure to chemicals/synthetic fertilizers.
While it hasn’t yet been proven that the chemicals are what’s causing the death of bee colonies; chemicals have been proven to lower the population of many benefitial insects, some which would aid in polinating plants.
Since this problem could now have a big economic impact, congress has a hearing about it. If research proves that pesticides are the cause, the chemical companies should be the ones funding the research and paying the beekeepers for their losses. Not to mention subsidizing any rise in the cost of food affected by this. That’s what I call accountability.
I hope this is acceptable feedback! Thanks.
