Hawk Mountain Update
Photographer Kevin Watson and had another great day trip to Hawk Mountain on Saturday.
The raptors were moving in the morning, especially Sharpies, and we had great (but high) looks at a Bald Eagle (left).
Of note: Hawk Mountain has already eclipsed its highest fall totals for Bald Eagles.
On Friday, it had one of its all-time high one-day counts for Ospreys (around 95), at a time when I was seeing plenty at the Celery Farm and the Meadowlands.
On Saturday, when birders were reporting Blue-headed Vireos across North Jersey, Hawk Mountain experienced huge numbers as well.
Methinks the birds are passing by places on their migration, especially last week.
