Full House
It may not be the case in poker, but in the world of screech owls, five Aces equals a full house.
In the shot above, Mrs. Ace was using a wing to cover her nestlings, but that view is getting rarer and rarer.
The owlets — at least two of them — are really getting big.
By the day, the owlets’ feathers grow slightly darker and they look less and less like babies and more and more like gawky kids.
Two videos: One with Mom and the the relatively mellow kids, and another of one of the little guys looking at the camera, with a face that only a mother or soft-hearted human could love.

Now that all our baby owlets have fledged I am off the hook as guardian. We had a few bad times with squirrels trying to evict them. Next year I will be prepared. I have really
been enjoying your web cams. I can’t wait to hear your baby owlets have fledged also. Won’t be long now!
