Crested Caracara in Central Jersey
There have been several reports of a Crested Caracara in West Windsor, N.J. (outside of Trenton).
Greg Grad was nice enough to share this video. (Thanks, Greg!)
Various e-mail reports on the Crested Caracara in New Jersey can be found here.

Thanks for posting this video! Rob and I were fortunate enough to go see this bird on both Saturday and Sunday (I don’t live too far away.) Saturday, we saw the bird in flight, but Sunday were treated to great looks in the field!
The origins of this bird will probably be disputed, but it will be interesting to see whether the committee takes into account Hurricane Isaac and the fact that the prominant wind direction was South and South West leading up to this bird’s discovery!
Regardless, I have always wanted to see one, and LOVE that it showed up in our own ‘backyard’ (NJ).
I encourage anyone to take a ride and spend some time with this visitor!
