Cooper’s Hawk Rescue
Got a call from The Raptor Trust this morning: Would I be willing to run an injured raptor down to their facility? It was an injured Cooper's Hawk, found in Fair Lawn and now in Midland Park.
Stiles Thomas and I picked up the bird — with a terribly broken wing — and drove it to The Trust's "emergency ward" in Millington (near the Great Swamp). The rescuer was a falconer (above), who loaned us a cage and a hood, which made it an easy trip.
We made the trip in under an hour and
put the Coop in The Raptor Trust's able hands.
One scenario is The Raptor Trust will somehow manage to save the bird, although it will never fly again. It would live in captivity, and serve as educational tool.
The other scenario the bird will not survive.
Either way, we tried. I believe we should always do what we can to help a bird survive.
A big thanks to falconer for helping the bird — and an even bigger thanks to the folks at The Raptor Trust for all the great things they do.

Sounds like you did all you could do! Let’s hope for the best outcome.
