Column: Why Birding Is Good For Your Health
Don Torino, president of Bergen County Audubon Society, has an interesting column the wildnewjersey.tv blog, on why visiting places like the Celery Farm is good for our physical and mental well-being.
A sample: "Connecting
with nature invigorates us, puts life in perspective and makes it a
little easier for us to cope with the day to day pressures of life.
"And
as for me, I can get pretty darn crabby if I don’t get outside often
enough (just ask my wife). But I wondered, was there any scientific
evidence that walking nature trails and enjoying a day with the birds
and bees could have any scientifically documented healthful effects on
us?"

This is one NJ Girl who gets crabby for the same reason. Of course, I thought it was just me. My body, mind and spirit are directly affected by me not ‘getting out’ into the earth which God created in order for us for us to live our ‘best’ lives.
