Blog upgrades

In case you hadn’t noticed, I have added some improvements to this blog as result of input from people like you. I tried to do this so that when The Record’s new Web site went on line last week, I’d have an upgraded blog.

   Here’s a quick run-through.

I am now posting my videos through youtube.com so they are a lot easier to view. If and when Ace the screech owl returns and things heat up in terms of courtship, I’ll post videos more often. At this point, I am still on a learning curve.

On the left-hand side of this blog, I have added links, including the invaluable Cornell birding site as well as birding friend Stephanie Seymour’s new blog purplechickadee.com.  (With some nice links.)

I have also listed links to several interactive projects I have done in the past 12 months for The Record, and once the new Web site works better, you’ll be able to look at:

   * The two-part Hackensack River project.

   * The return of peregrine falcons to the Palisades in Alpine (I wrote and narrates the slide show)

    *  An eaglet banding project in Sussex County. I took the photos and wrote the captions.

On the right-hand side is a new category called "Categories." If you want to see what I have posted on the Celery Farm or screech owls or nesting cams or other topics, you can click on the word and you’ll get the major posts on that subject.

The goal of the changes is to make this blog as friendly, easy to use and helpful as I can.

Other suggestions are most welcome. And please, feel free to comment on any post that strikes you — one way or another.

    Thanks.

    Jim
