The Sky’s the Limit for This Birder
Fewer than 500 people worldwide have reported seeing this African bird – a blue-moustached bee-eater. Photo by Marc Chelemer By…
A hardy few made the Big Sit from 6 to 9 a.m. today at the Celery Farm’s Pirie Platform — clear and cold and splendid.
In our three hours, we had 50 species — the bulk of the birds to be seen the entire day.
Highlights included the bittern, common yellow-throat, red-breasted nuthatch, red-shouldered (perched for an hour) and assorted waterfowl.
Here are a few photos, including one of a great blue heron who flew by the platform.
Well done to everyone at the big sit, Alas still no sign of that elusive ivory billed woodpecker I note!!
Nice pics Jim ! Congrats on a great shift!
