Nature Done Wright
Incorporating the Celery Farm and Screech Owl Companion blogs
Allendale storm
Allendale got nailed by a severe thunderstorm — some are speculating it was a tornado — just after three p.m. yesterday. I have been without power ever since.
The screech-cam is out of commission — temporarily, I hope — and I can’t report on the owlets. I think they are likely safe. I saw Mrs. Ace stick her head out of the nesting box this morning.
When I saw the owlets yesterday morning on the screech-cam, they had grown noticeably overnight.
On a far more serious note, the devastation around town has been heavy — including downed trees and power lines on the Franklin Turnpike.
As far as I know, there have been no fatalities or serious injuries, and that is a major blessing.
Several downed trees in the Celery Farm made it impassable as of 8 a.m. Thursday, and there are far greater priorities in town.
Robin has rebuilt her nest already — about 10 yards from the first one…
Life goes on.

I am happy to hear the owlets are safe. It was quite a storm. I find your blog about nature very interesting, as the students can see pictures of plants and animals living very near to them. I also have some former Allendale residents tuning in to watch the growth of the owlets. Thanks!
