Allendale is in the (birding) record books for a rare Rufous Hummingbird that hung out at local feeder for nearly five months (late October 2019 to mid-March 2020).
The bird is usually seen out West.
I learned the news from the current issue of New Jersey Audubon Magazine.
The picture that was used by the NJ records committee appeared very small in the magazine, so thought I would post a few more, and bigger.
(It is a stunning bird.)
