A Horrible History of Flooding

P1040399-1
The Celery Farm gets flooded way too often — closing trails, eroding trails, filling Lake Appert with polluted stormwater run-off and wrecking habitat.

A quick search of the three-plus years of this blog found several posts about previous floods — and these were only the ones that I had time to photograph and post about.

April 16, 2007: Flooded Out (water had not receded a day later)

Sept 5, 2008: Hurricane Hannah (video no longer loads but the post talks about needing knee-high boots to navigate the paths.

March 15, 2010: Celery Farm Flooded

March 7, 2011: Celery Farm Trails Are Flooded

March 11, 2011: "Entire Farm is Inundated"

April 17, 2011: Celery Farm Flooded

August 28, 2011: "Flooding Everywhere"

The trails were also flooded after the Halloween snowstorm and the day before Thanksgiving of this year. Throw in this past Thursday, and that's at least seven times this year alone.

Is something blocked or dammed? Someone said that the stream behind the church in Allendale was DRY, while the CF was flooded.
