Photos of red-shouldered hawk

I took several photos during the red-shouldered rescue in Allendale.

The photos include a shot of the nest, the red-shouldered on the grass, the red-shouldered’s tail feathers (he is a gorgeous bird), the hawk in his traveling box (with breathing holes), and the Raptor Trust in Central Jersey near the Great Swamp.

The Raptor Trust is a wonderful place, with a very warm and sympathetic staff that knows its stuff.

Thank you for these photos and for re-running the information from 3 years ago. I didn’t know much about red-shouldered hawks until recently. My old friend and neighbor from when we lived on Turner’s Lake in Mahwah often mentions a pair of red-shouldered hawks who hunt in the area. They must have a wide territory, correct? Surely it is the same pair. It’s such a shame that the male is hurt. Please keep us informed.
