   I’m sorry to report that the rare red-shouldered hawk that slammed into a window near its Allendale nest yesterday has died.

    No activity was reported at the nest today.

   A sad reminder of how fragile life can be, even for a powerful and dynamic raptor.

   I’m still gathering information for a short update for the Thursday editions of The Record.
