The red-shouldered that crashed into the Allendale window and died was the female of the nesting pair, according to the Raptor Trust, which treated the injured bird.

There is an outside chance that if there are sufficiently developed chicks in the nest, the male could raise them  — but that appears to be a long shot at best.
