Incorporating the Celery Farm and Screech Owl Companion blogs
May 6 Earth Day event
This Sunday, May 6, I’ll be appearing at the Earth Day Fair at the Church of the Epiphany in Allendale.
I’ll be happy to talk with fair-goers about my favorite screech owl family, the Aces of Allendale, as well as the recent sad demise red-shouldered hawk.
What’s more, book colleague Jerry Barrack and I have two new photography-driven nature books for kids and adults, both taken at the Celery Farm — to go along with "Duck Enough To Fly."
The event runs from noon to 4 p.m. and features information on solar living, green cleaning, hybrid cars and other environmentally friendly items.
There’ll also be children’s crafts, canvas grocery bags, plants, light bulbs, books and beautiful new Celery Farm T shirts.
Which brings me to "Swan Babies" and "Icky the Hungry Heron" — advance copies of which will be for sale
"Swan Babies" is based on the real-life struggles of a pair of mute swans last spring to hatch their young at the Celery Farm.
"Icky the Hungry Heron" is the story of an over-achieving great blue heron at the Celery Farm who catches an enormous carp — then tries to decide what to do next.
The Church of the Epiphany is at 55 George Street in Allendale.
Here’s a link to a Google map of the location:
