Owlets getting boisterous (2 videos)
The owlets grow bigger, and Mrs. Ace seems to have her hands full sometimes.
She hangs out in the opening whenever she expects a food delivery from Mr. Ace (image above) while the Fab Four huddle underneath.
She spends the rest of her time either trying to sleep, or feeding or sheltering the youngsters.
The first video shows one of the owlets with its eyes open. Have never gotten a good look at that before.
The second video shows some of the chaos in the nesting box now that owlets are getting friskier. Mom, meanwhile, is calling Mr. Ace to bring more food — I think.

I think screech owls nest once per year.
I’d read up on screech owls a little more.
It was always my understanding that the owlets live nearby for awhile after they leave the box.

Jim. I watched the bigger baby owl leap out
of the house just now. He swooped to a low
limb. For the first time today at dusk I saw
two little heads sticking out. The owl left
is just a bit smaller than the fledged one.
I saw no cats. And after he left the house,
I could see mama owl directing him around the yard. My Aunt said they will both probably be gone by morning. She said her owls always
take them far away. I will miss them. Can’t wait until next year. Do owls only have one nesting per season.
