Snapping turtle laying eggs
The backyard was a maternity ward this weekend, with at least two turtles laying eggs simultaneously at one point.
My friend, photographer Jerry Barrack, helped with the shots (that’s why the quality is better than usual on some).
The sequence is of one of the snapping turtles laying eggs, with the shot above of the other turtle. Look closely at the last image and you can see the eggs.

Cool! A couple weeks ago I came across a snapping turtle crossing the trail, going towards the brook.
Yesterday in the same area I saw a weird thing sticking out of the water in the brook, I thought it was a log, but when I looked again it was gone, it was a snapping turtle head which I confirmed by seeing it swimming underwater. It’s probably hanging out in that brook looking for some fresh ducklings.
I also came across a wood turtle.
All at the Celery Farm of course.
