Bat update

Bat_houses

I went outside the other night around dusk and saw around 15 bats fly out from under the roof trim of my neighbor’s house.

I kept one eye on my two bat houses (pictured above in daytime) and saw no activity — but none is expected before next spring anyway.

This summer the bats might make note of the new digs and decide to move in nine months from now.

And the way the bats silently whiz around the property, they are apt to make note of the two bat boxes at some point.

That’s one reason why I am glad I got the bat houses up, with the help of a friend.

The other reason is that I had purchased one of the bat houses two years ago and had let it sit my garage all this time.

   Talk about guilt.

Jim, thanks so much for the constant view to the natural world. You make it seem so easy to access. I and my neighbors constantly look for (but rarely see) all the things you find, so your web site is amazing to us…. like the curtain is lifted!
    Thanks!
