More September bugs

          Use_this_guy

It’s hard to believe it is September already. The air seems a tad crisper. The butterflies are working the jewelweed (above), the spiders are working overtime (below), and the crane flies apparently are at the beginning of their reproduction cycle (bottom).Spider_good

No sign of the squirrel family.

The spider pictured here has built a four-foot-in-diameter web across our picture window. I guess he just craves attention.

The crane flies were on the window itself. They must crave attention, too, or maybe it’s just a September thing.

Thanks for the ID… I’ll look for the cormorant on Monday morning…

  • Just when I was commenting about the lack of cormorants this year, this guy shows up. Hope he doesn’t consume more than his share of egret/heron/osprey food 🙂

  • That is a spicebush swallowtail. Have you seen the cormorant that’s near the Warden Watch? I saw that guy today and he kept diving and coming up with big fish in his mouth. That thing is eating a little too well!
