Spider and coots
A couple of highlights at the Celery Farm on Sunday were the continuing plethora of coots and a ginormous spider, which was perched on a rock by the Warden’s Watch.
Since Sunday is the big day for photograophers to click away at the point, I’m guessing this might be the most photographed spider in Bergen County.
I am thinking it’s a wolf spider. I think the whole magnificent bug, legs and all, was about the size of an old silver dollar.
If anyone has other ideas on ID, please share.
The coots were the other big attraction — black heads, red eyes, white bills, bobbing around near the point.
At one point I saw a few on the trail by the Warden’s Watch, but they zipped back into the water before I could photograph their unusual non-webbed feet.
