You see this berry around the Celery Farm a lot.
I posted this photo over the weekend, and when a friend of this blog asked what it is, I drew a blank.
It is pokeberry, or pokeweed. I am told that catbirds love it and even get a little intoxicated eating it — but that it is poisonous to humans. Stay away.
It has some nifty historical significance as well.
