Nature Done Wright
Incorporating the Celery Farm and Screech Owl Companion blogs
Battery park
This has been such a hectic week that I forgot to post this little item.
I try not to post non-nature items on the blog, but this got me.
As I was leaving the Celery Farm parking lot on Franklin Turnpike Sunday, I found a rather large battery by the telephone pole.
I am not familiar with this type of battery, but it looks to be the size of what was called a dry-cell battery when I was a kid and weighs about a pound.
As you can see, it has a bright yellow label. The first three words are "Caution: Toxic material." The label also says the battery contains lead and must be recycled.
Maybe someone forgot the battery and left it. Maybe not. Either way, it shows an unfortunate lack of understanding of one’s surroundings.
Leaving a battery like this anywhere is a bad idea. Leaving at the the Celery Farm is pathetic.
