Eating locally grown food

Eating_locally    I wrote the main story on the front page of The Record today, on why more and more people are eating locally.

The story was supposed to run Friday, but baseball home run king Barry Bonds got indicted and my story got held.

The story can be found here, and it includes sidebar on where to get locally grown food:

The photo at the top of this post was taken at the Eat_locally_2community-supported agriculture farm in Mahwah, Sun Valley Farm, an organic farm that’s now closed for the season.

The Llewellyns, who farmed the land, have moved to a Hudson Valley CSA with their sweet little daughter, Elaine June, shown here.

Efforts are afoot to find new managers to run the farm next season.

    Thanks for the feedback.
The Barry Bonds story was huge and had to go Page One. He is the all-time home run leader. My story had a little shelf life. 🙂
As for the Sun Valley CSA, it will hopefully open under new management in the spring. To get on the mailing list, e-mail sunvalleycsa@hotmail.com

  • I liked the story a lot. Too bad the Mahwah folks gave it up. Another way to eat locally grown food is to grow your own. Replace that dull grass lawn! Grow some celery! 😉
As for your story losing out to Barry Bonds, shame on the editors… but maybe it’s just the impact of cable newstertainment on newspapers 🙁
