Year-end Celery Farm poll

Dawn_32407
As we approach year’s end, it occurred to me that it might be fun to do a year-end poll of the five top things about the Celery Farm in 2007.
     We had rarities
, woodcocks peenting, and a great year for great blues, great egrets and kingfishers.
We had bitterns, rails, a red-shouldered hawk or two that could be
seen regularly, the screech owl babies, even a double rainbow.

What do you think should be on the list? Let me know as soon as
possible by either posting a comment here or e-mailing me, and I’ll
post them the day after Christmas.
If you want to include a photo, that would be even better.  🙂

  • The humming of the wind in the pines.
The swaying of the golden adropogon in the Lanchantin Meadow.
The long shadows of the trees during this winter equinox.
The enthusiasm of the Marsh Warden, Stiles Thomas.
The accessibility of this blog when weather keeps us at home!

  • Even though I missed it, I would imagine the clay colored sparrow should be on that list!

My pick would be the serenity and the ability to experience the wonders of the natural world in this haven in the midst of suburbia. Of course, this has been true all along, but it is getting to be even more precious as the area gets more crowded.
