Great blue heron, again
I was quite pleased with myself that
I was able to see a great blue heron at Celery Farm the other day, and even manage to get a passable photo.
So imagine my surprise when I looked out my window yesterday morning and see a heron walking down the path toward the Warden’s Watch.
I was on my way to work, but I grabbed my good camera w/telephoto and rushed out the door.
I grabbed this shot, and then ran back into the house to get my little video camera.
I was so amazed by it all that when the heron started walking from the bridge toward the observation platform, I held the camera sideways so I would get the heron full-frame.
How-to hint: You cannot shoot video very well with vertical shots, at least not videos that people can watch without turning their computer on its side. 😉
I did get this photo of the heron at the Warden’s watch.
He acted like he was waiting for a bus. He was still there when I left.
The marsh warden saw him in the afternoon, catching a sunfish from a gap in the ice.
From my window, I could see him this morning at the point.

Your comment about the vertical video shot made me laugh. I can totally relate. As an avid amateur photographer, I had never been too interested in video, so yes, I turned the camera vertically to get the Christmas tree in. Umm hmm….
