Squirrel invasion
Ace did not return to the owl box yesterday, but the squirrel did.
I recorded this video, then evicted the squirrel.
I am now consulting with a couple of owl experts to see how I can keep the squirrel away from the box and (hopefully) get Ace back.

I noticed in one of your pictures that your flashing was quite a bit above the box. Maybe putting another strip right above and below the box may help as they won’t have anything exposed trunk to drop onto. Does your roof have flashing on it? Mine does and this may prevent them from getting a grip if they drop onto the roof. To date I’ve been successful at keeping the squirrels out, but no owls since Mid November.
