   The 11th annual Great Backyard Bird Count
begins today, and runs through Monday.

    I have an article on the count today in The Record, and I plan to participate.

   You can join in, too. All it takes is at least 15 minutes of your time on one of those four days, a tally sheet, and a few minutes to register.

     If you’re not a knowledgable birder, then just recrd the numbers of the birds you do know.

     You can count from your backyard window, or you can go to a park or the Celery Farm and count there.

     It’s not exactly an exact science, but it is fun and easy — and it might just get a child or two interested in birding or nature.

    I started just befor 7 a.m., a littke early, and have a chickadee and a titmouse already.

    Alas, no screech owl.
