BIRDS: Jeeper, creeper
I have counted birds for the Great Backyard Bird Count on two of the first three days (today is the last day),
and I have to tell you it was slim pickins — until my wife spotted this guy scrambling up the ash tree in our front yard.
For once, I had my camera ready, and I mana
ged to take a few decent pictures of this brown creeper.
He was very small and active, and he moved up the tree in a hurry, and he was across the yard,
I had to blow these images up, but it’s still a nifty and unusual little guy.
Read more about him here.
Now get back to counting.
I’ve run out fingers to count the house sparrows on. (I thought a dangling preposition would be good to end on.)

I don’t know about NJ but in South Central PA Creepers have been harder to find than normal. Though I have been fortunate enough to have one hanging around the yard. For a little brown non descript bird I find them pretty interesting.
