Keep your fingers crossed:
House-hunting season apparently began for wood ducks this week, and a female has already been checking out nesting box just beyond my backyard.
   Earlier this week, I saw a female wood duck standing atop the box and occasionally trying to look inside.

     A female duck was seen the following day checking out the box as well.
    It should be noted that a screech owl was seen last weekend  flying up to the wood duck box at dusk. Busy box.
  As you may recall (or not), a friend and I installed a videocam in that box last fall, named Quacker Tracker by a friend of this blog.
   Unfortunately, the wiring from the box somehow got cut over the winter, and I have been picture-less.
   The good news is that my friend returns this weekend, and we have a new video-cam to install.
   He hopes to repair the old cam and use that as a spare and as a potential bat cam for the two bat nesting boxes.
