TANAGER ALERT

Rob Fanning and Fred Weber had a possible western tanager sighting yesterday at the CF.
Rob says the tanager he observed yesterday had "distinct (but
not bold) wing bars. It was fairly High and I never did get a good look
at the back. The wings and tail were dark and the bill orangy. I know
the time of year doesn’t fit with the general pattern of sightings, and
I have heard that Scarlets can sometimes show faint wing bars, so this
may just be an abberant Scarlet?–but I have never seen a Scarlet that
showed any obvious wing bars."
If anyone has any info about Scarlets
showing wing bars, Rob would be interested in hearing it.
Location: wooded path near Phair’s Pond that dead ends at a
stream/brush. Bird was seen at the dead end of the path.
If anyone
observes the bird in question, please let Rob know your thoughts.
If you can get a photo of it, even better.
