Rob Fanning Report 080709
The cold front brought in some nice birds on this picture perfect
morning–highlighted by an extremely cooperative WORM-EATING
WARBLER–my first at CF since my CF Big Year in '06!
I watched it at
and below eye level mostly in the open for over 10 minutes, as it
caught and devoured some tasty morsels, including a scrumptuous daddy
long-legs. This may be the most under-rated warbler–What a gorgeous
bird!
Other highlights incl. a CHESTNUT-CHIDED WARBLER (aka
"Limey"), a SOLITARY SANDPIPER, 2 dueling RT HUMMERS, and a pair of
INDIGO BUNTINGS at Greenway, with the gleaming male singing a partial
song.
Strangely I only saw 1 other person this morning, a jogger.
