Monday Mystery Revealed

This week's Monday Morning Mystery required a good memory.

The plank below, with IMG_4254-1the outline of an egret, was once the lid on the enclosure for the old kiosk in the Celery Farm parking lot on Franklin Turnpike.

Eight or nine years ago, I was walking toward the lot and saw the town DPW guys bulldozing the old kiosk. I rescued the lid, and it now hangs in my living room.

The egret cut-out that once graced the lid had been rescued by Lillian Thomas, the unofficial marsh wardenness.  It is now in my basement.

As you may have guessed, I am fascinated by Celery farm memorabilia. I would love to get some vegetable crate labels from the days when the Celery Farm was a celery farm.

Some of the labels were for "King Arthur's" brand … short for Arthur Appert, for whom Lake Appert is named.
