Incorporating the Celery Farm and Screech Owl Companion blogs
Masked Intruder
This shot was taken through my window around 2:30 today — Mr. Raccoon was snooping around the edge of the Celery Farm.
I was not happy to see a raccoon wandering around during the day, but he didn't look too wacky. Just something to be aware of.
He is the main reason I have to clamp down my garbage can lid.

we had a daytime visitor for a good portion of the spring and early summer; she would come every late afternoon and usually end up in the same tree looking down at my husband as he read.
we were a bit nervous but it was pretty ragged and we chalked it up to being an old lady
we were very surprised one day at lunchtime when we saw the old lady come trotting down to our deck with three babies in tow! They were sooo tiny that there heads were literally bigger than their bodies and they get falling over as they followed mama.
A little research showed that it is not uncommon for nursing mothers to come out during the day looking for food while the kiddies sleep.
We were visited very often by momma and the kids and the kids, who are no longer the size of kids, continue to come around at night, evidenced by their footprints in the snow.
My guess is that people are feeding them since many who live in the neighborhood use bear cans which also prevent raccoons from breaking in.
But I doubt this is the reason for your day time visitor ;>)
