Horned Grebe at the Celery Farm
My first ever here. And the spring arrivals are arriving! The grebe was No. 186 on my Celery Farm life…
Marsh Warden Mike Limatola and I had a small but enthusiastic bunch of birders for our 8 a.m. walk today. (Actually, the group was just the right size for looking for birds, and we were able to dodge most of the raindrops.)
Highlights included Baltimore Orioles at the Warden's Watch (above), White-eyed Vireo, Yellow Warbler and Yellow-rumped Warbler.
Spotted Sandpiper still hanging around.
Seen just before the walk started: Black-crowned Night Heron at Phairs Pond; Ruby-throated Hummingbird in the Wildflower Meadow.
(Thanks to Mike for leading the walk — and thanks to all participated. It was a good time.)
