Nature Done Wright

I am not sure what kind of bird my father was drawing in the cartoon above. He was not a birder that I know of, and he had never been to Alaska, so it was probably not an auklet, as was suggested.

A few folks wondered if it could be a Bluebird. Quite possibly, probably a loosely drawn robin family.  Although they aren't known to nest in mailboxes…

… When I did a Google image search for "robin, mailbox," I came across this ad for a mini-mailbox with a "Robin bird and floral design."

I didn't have the heart to let them know…
