Alas, this mystery seems way out of date because of the recent snowstorm…
I saw this leaf a while back on the FitzPatrick Trail in the Celery Farm — and just seemed out of place.
What is it?

Ah yes, Ginkgo biloba, a living fossil of sorts. Its the only known member of its plant kingdom division, Division Ginkgophyta, the only member of its order, Order Ginkgoales, the only member of its family, Family Ginkgoaceae, the only living member of its genus, Genus Ginkgo. So you’ve got a rare (not really) specimen, which strangely seems to be attracted to city sidewalks (with a little human help).
