This late bloomer is Witch Hazel, photographed at High Mountain Park Preserve in November.
I understand that it has been seen in the Laino Woods part of the Celery Farm. More about Laino Woods here.
The Witch Hazel tree I used to always look for bloomed in January or February. Depending on weather I guess. It was the first flower of winter that I got to see and it always gave me hope for spring! Alas, the tree is no more. I sure could use hope for spring this year.
