Wild (Pink-footed) Goose Chase

P1080131-2
Went to Washington Township before dawn today in search of the celebrity goose. Arrived at the viewing area by the library and saw another 18 birders and this iffy sunrise.

Word spread that the goose was on the other side of the lake, so we drove over there and thanks to a friend with a spotting scope, I got a fleeting distant look.

Looked in a couple of other spots with no luck. Went home and moved on with my life.

Scroll down for more on the Pink-footed Goose.

I knew something was afoot. I know you like to be in step with the your birder friends and would not drag your feet in getting to see the pink footed goose. You can go toe to toe with the best of them. So, without stepping on anyone’s toes, you put one foot in front of the other, stayed one step ahead, didn’t tip toe around and did some fancy footwork…to no avail. You got a foot in the door–no pink footed goose. So, talk a walk on the wild side and good luck next time-break a leg.
