Rooftop Homing Pigeon?

I found your email in an article about bird tagging in New Jersey in the Record and thought I would write to you.

The oddest thing happened to me and my husband the other day. When we were leaving the parking lot of a mall in hackensack, we heard the pitter-patter of feet on the roof of our car.

Our suspicions were confirmed when the bird made an appearance by walking over our sunroof then down the windshield and off the car onto Route 4.

The bird had a 2011 tag on its left leg. We didn't get the number but we wanted to pass along this information if it is of help to anyone.

If you can recommend someone else to forward this to or forward it yourself, that would be great.

Any ideas?
