Bergen’s First Successful Black Vulture Nest

IMG_0704
I got this shot at an undisclosed location in Allendale. You can still see the baby feathers a top the young Black Vulture's head.

New Jersey birding expert Bill Boyle says that he does not know of any other Bergen County nesting records for Black Vulture: " They could well be nesting in some of the wilder parts of the Ramapos, but they do show a marked preference for abandoned buildings."

If you know otherwise, please let me know.

  • Wow. Pretty cool. We’ve been enjoying watching the red-shouldered hawk family this summer. We’ve seen them at Crestwood lake and in the Ramey Country Club area.
