A Dead Red-shouldered Hawk in the CF
I am saddened to report that Mike LeFebvre found a dead Red-shouldered Hawk in the Klomburg Woods section of the Celery Farm. It had no head or talons, I am told. (Thanks for reporting it, Mike.)
I looked for the raptor this a.m. to give it a proper burial and to prevent critters from eating it. If it died from eating a poisoned rat poison, the critters might get a small dose of that poison as well.
On a happier note, I found several spring beauties during my search, and some trout lilies with leaves but no flowers. Not sure if it's early yet, or the deer ate them (along with 'most everything else).
The spring beauty below may look big, but it's no larger than a dime at best.
