Great Cub Scout Walk!
Marsh Warden Mike Limatola and I did a guided loop of the Celery Farm today with some awesome Cub Scouts — very smart and great kids to boot.
We saw 18 species of birds, but the "bird of the day" had to be an Eastern Box Turtle. It's the first one I've ever seen in the Celery Farm. Awesome. (Thanks, Mike.)
We also talked a bit about native plants and invasives, and the Atlantic Flyway.
Bird highlights included a "heard" Red-shoulder, coots, Wood Ducks, a Coop and a Double-Crested Cormorant drying its wings.
It was a great way to spend a late afteroon in autumn.
Full list of birds that we saw follows.

Sounds like a great walk! 🙂
I took some (not good) photos of a box turtle last weekend by Phair’s. Are they unexpected, or have they just been eluding you til now?
