A Parting Lesson from Tom Burr
At Saturday's memorial service for Tom Burr, a dear friend of the Celery Farm, the prayer card featured one of Tom's photos of a butterfly that at quick glance I assumed to be a Monarch.
On the other side is a quote from Tom: "Next time you visit your favorite spot for nature watching, whether the Celery Farm or another undisturbed environment, rest a spell beside a pond and think about what lies under the surface not only of the water but of life itself."
I looked at the front of the card again (scanned here) and realized that the Monarch was really a Viceroy — in my haste, I just had not looked very closely.
I wondered if the photo choice was a coincidence — or a playful, gentle parting lesson from Tom.

How sweet is your thought on the Memorial Card? Very.
What a wonderful time spent remembering Tom who touched so many lives.
