I received two answers for yesterday's mystery — European Hornet and Cicada Killer Wasp.

When I first saw the insect, I thought Cicada Killer, but it seemed small. It had been ID'd on the walk as a possible Queen Bee.

I think I'll go with European Hornet unless I hear otherwise. Congrats to Patrick Carney for the likely correct answer.
