Cooper’s Hawk by the Celery Farm

This guy was perched in my backyard on Sunday morning, waiting for a meal to show up at the feeders.

  • I saw a Merlin in Van Saun recently earlier this month, and Van Saun isn’t far from where I live.

  • Good question. Cooper’s Hawk is a good suspect — as are Red-tails. Merlins and Peregrines also love pigeons but not nearly as common….

  • I recently found a large pile of pigeon feathers in my yard with bits of other parts of the bird mixed in. Could a cooper’s hawk be responsible?
